Groups & Monthly Activities

The Southbury Newcomers & Neighbors Club has Activities and Social Events to meet everyone’s interests. Each group is open for all to join and have fun. If you have a special interest in forming a new activity, please let Toni know. Also, we will be hosting special events and parties throughout the year, so look for Evites. Look on the Calendar page or the home page for specific dates and locations for these groups:

New Member Coffee/Tea: These will be held twice a year based on new membership – please consider attending if you have recently joined, or even if you haven’t been to many functions. It will give you an opportunity to meet your fellow club mates!

Sunshine Club: This group was created in an effort to support SNNC members who might be experiencing unusually stressful or celebratory experiences. If you have an interest in this club or a suggestion for a member, please contact Lauren, sunshine@southburynewcomers.org.

Lunch Bunch: These variations on a lunch group include one group who goes to various restaurants to sample local fare. The Lunch Bunch will be held on the 4th Thursday of each month. Contact Terry at lunch@southburynewcomers.org

Book Club: This women’s group will meet the 3rd Thursday evening of every month to discuss and dissect fun fiction titles. We’ll have a few snacks and drinks to keep the discussion lively. Books will be announced one to 3 months in advance. We’ll be meeting in various homes and local gathering places. Contact Bonnie to join. book@southburynewcomers.org 

Girls Night Out: Each 2nd Thursday of the month we will host an evening out on the town. We’ve had Pamper-yourself nights, jewelry making night, cocktail nights, psychic readings and food tasting. These are all casual attempts to get out and meet new people and have fun! Look for the Evite or RSVP to Ann Benore at girlsnight@southburynewcomers.org

Wine Tastings: Come and meet your neighbors and sample a variety of local and imported wines with food pairing. This group will meet bi-monthly, on the first Saturday of the month. Look for an Evite for the event or contact Corrine at wine@southburynewcomers.org.

Night out at the Movies: If you are interested in movies and a fun evening out -- please join us for movie night. We meet once a month, and usually the group car pools or meets at a restaurant next to the theatre to have a cocktail or bite to eat. Then we head off to see a new film of interest. If you are interested in joining us for movie night, look for the Evite or contact Eileen at movie@southburynewcomers.org.

Supper Club: Are you a foodie or do you enjoy trying new recipes? Then join us at our International Supper Club! This event will be held on the second Saturday of each month. Each month, the host will choose a theme and each guest will bring a gourmet dish for all to sample. Look for the Evite or if you are interested in hosting the next event, contact Barb.

Mah Jongg: Do you have any interest in learning or playing this ancient Chinese game? If so, please contact Barb at mahjongg@southburynewcomers.org.  We meet weekly on Tuesday mornings.

Holiday Cookie Swap: Take some of the hard work out of the holidays with this fantastic variation on holiday baking! Look for the eVite soon!

Bunco: Come and enjoy a fun evening of apps, bubbly and desserts, while playing bunco – no experience necessary! The event will take place on the last Wednesday of each month at various locations. This is a great event for potential member! Please respond to Evite or RSVP to Linda at vp@southburynewcomers.org.

Golf: Are you new in town and interested in joining a ladies golf group? All levels are welcome. This group meets on a regular basis throughout the summer. For more information or to join, please contact Kasey at golf@southburynewcomers.org.
